Chennai, Feb. 21

Canadian luxury salon Vault has set up operations in India, beginning with Chennai. In India, the salon is a joint venture between the Dadha group of companies and the Jorgenson group. Positioned as a premium and luxury place, the unisex salon will offer hair cutting and styling, colouring and other hair treatment, waxing, manicures and pedicures. Prices for a haircut will start at Rs 600 and go on to over Rs 1,500 depending on the customer's specific needs and the stylist chosen, said Ms Brandy O'Reilly, Vice-President, Jorgenson group.

At a press conference to announce the launch, she said that their research had estimated the size of the beauty salon market in India at Rs 1,800 crore. It is growing at over 42 per cent, she said.

The joint venture is eyeing Mumbai and Hyderabad to set up outlets next, Mr Pradeep Dadha, a director of the Dadha group, said. In Canada, Vault is a single-salon operation based in Winnipeg.
