ABC Bearings in tie-up with Japanese co

Chennai March 6 Japanese ball bearings manufacturer NSK Ltd has entered into a joint venture with tapered and cylindrical roller bearings manufacturer ABC Bearings to set up a unit to manufacture bearings for the global automotive industry (largely Japan), according to a press release.

The joint venture, called NSK-ABC Bearings Ltd will see an initial capital investment of Rs 50 crore, to which about Rs 20 crore will be added by 2010. NSK will contribute 75 per cent of this capital and ABC the rest.

The unit will be set up in SIPCOT Industrial Park in Sriperumbudur near Chennai. The unit will produce bearings for transmission and magnetic clutch besides HUB unit bearings.
