New Delhi March 6 The fire at Indian Oil Corporation's Guwahati Refinery late Monday night would not impact the crude throughput and supply of petroleum products for the month.

In a statement issued here on Tuesday, the company said: "The throughput and supply of petroleum products would be maintained by the refinery."

The crude distillation unit (CDU), which was damaged by a fire on Monday night, would be repaired at the earliest, the company said. A fire broke out at the crude distillation unit of Guwahati Refinery at around 9.27 p.m. on March 5. The fire was controlled effectively by the expert fire services of the refinery, the Central Industrial Security Force along with help provided by the State Fire Services. There was no injury to any person.

The probable cause of the fire was a hot seal leakage of bottom pump of a column of the unit. While all other units of the plant are running smoothly, the CDU is expected to be back on track soon.
