Mixed trend in spot rubber

Kottayam March 9 Physical rubber prices showed a mixed mood on Friday. Most of the global indices were weak though TOCOM finished marginally higher wiping out the initial loses on short covering towards close.

Sheet rubber finished static at Rs 87 a kg at Kottayam. But it improved by 50 paise to Rs 87.50 a kg at Kochi. According to sources, the undercurrent appeared comparatively firm since covering groups and certain buyers from the tyre sector were slightly active at lower levels. Ungraded rubber and latex gained on fresh demand.

Futures firm

The rubber futures closed firm on NMCE. The March contract finished the session at Rs 86.99 (86.75), April at Rs 90.40 (90.55), May at Rs 94.60 (94.36) and June at Rs 97.90 (97.47) a kg for RSS 4.

The March contract for RSS 4 was weak at Rs 84.88 against Rs 85.61a kg on MCX.

Spot rubber prices were (Rs/kg): RSS-4: 87 (87); RSS-5: 86 (86); Ungraded: 85.25 (84.75); ISNR 20: 86.50 (86.50) and Latex 60 per cent: 62.10 (61.05).
