Spot rubber prices improve

Kottayam March 17 The physical rubber prices improved on Saturday. According to sources covering groups were active in the weekend session and the market made all-round gains on better demand. Sheet rubber moved up to Rs 88.25 and Rs 88.50 respectively at Kottayam and Kochi from Rs 87.50 a kg on Friday.

Futures weak

The rubber futures turned weak on NMCE. The April contract slipped toRs 90.70 (90.74), May to Rs 94.52 (95.13), June to Rs 97.75 (98.23) and July contract to 99.82 (100.09) a kg for RSS 4.

The volumes were 1,227 (3,569) tonnes. The open interest stood at 12,044 (11,829) lots with 4866 lots in April, 5371 lots in May, 1656 lots in June and 151lots in July.

The April contract for RSS 4 finished at Rs 91.30 against Rs 91.04 a kg on MCX.

Spot prices were (Rs/kg): RSS-4: 88.25 (87.50); RSS-5: 87 (86.50); Ungraded: 86.25 (85.50); ISNR 20: 86.50 (86) and Latex 60 per cent: 63.15 (62.10).
