The India Council of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), the world's largest professional society of electrical, electronics and computer engineers with activities in 150 countries including India, has elected Mr N.T. Nair as Chairman and Mr K.G. Satheesh Kumar as Secretary for 2007.

Prof Kasi Rajagopal will be the Vice-Chairman, a spokesman of the IEEE India Council spokesman said here on Wednesday. Other office-bearers are Prof V.K. Damodaran, Editor of the IEEE India Info newsletter; Dr S.C. Pal; Dr S.C. Srivastava; Dr A.R. Dasgupta; Mr R. Kannan; Mr M.M. Shah; Mr Rajib Mall; Mr Quarish Bakir; and Mr R.K. Asthana.
