Our Bureau

Kochi March 22 Thrissur-based Vaidyaratnam group, a major healthcare provider under the ayurvedic system, has targeted revenue of Rs 10 crore from medical tourism in the next financial year.

The group has identified medical tourism as a focus area of its activity and invested Rs 3 crore to develop infrastructure in this area, said Mr T. Unnikrishnan, Deputy General Manager of the group.

Satellite centres

The group is in the process of setting up a network of satellite treatment centres in major cities of the country and abroad. Two such centres have already been opened in Bangalore and Mumbai, besides another one in Bahrain.

More satellite centres are to be opened in Delhi and Hyderabad soon with support from leading allopathic hospitals, a press release issued here said. The new satellite centres will be over and above the existing branches in Delhi, Hyderabad and Chennai.

The number of patients coming from abroad for ayurveda treatment is showing a steady growth, Dr Neelakanthan Moos, CEO of Vaidyaratnam group, said. "Nearly 30 per cent of the revenue from healthcare is from foreigners. We are getting patients from Europe as well as West Asia."
