HIGHER THAN INITIAL ESTIMATES: Workers harvesting sugarcane in a field near Palani in Tamil Nadu. Favourable weather conditions leading to better yields in major producing areas in the country are expected to boost total sugar output to over 250 lakh tonnes this season against initial projection of 227 lakh tonnes.
