The Confederation of Indian Industry (Andhra Pradesh) may replicate the self-employment scheme `Swayam Upadhi Baata' it launched in Krishna district last year to all other districts in a phased manner.
"We will study the impact of the scheme we launched in Krishna district before replicating in other districts," Mr G. Vivekanand, Chairman of CII (AP), said.
Addressing a press conference to brief about the performance in the last one year, Mr Vivekanand said the scheme mandated to train 2,500 youth in rural areas in various skills that help them stand on their own.
The CII tied up with the UK-based City & Guilds, which promoted vocation education worldwide, to launch the scheme.
Focus on textiles
Mr Vivekanand, who is the Managing Director of Visakha Industries, said that the Green Industrial Park (GIP), jointly promoted by CII's Green Business Centre and the Andhra Pradesh Government, had received good response. "Six companies have been allotted space at the park," he said.
The CII, which came out with a vision document for promoting textile industry in the State, was working on assessing the avenues to tap the industrial potential of three developing districts. "This multi-dimensional study would focus on the development of the region," he said.
