Coimbatore March 23 While the concept of a centralised credit processing cell (CCPC) is not new, Oriental Bank of Commerce has for the first time initiated a CCPC for a cluster of branches. Its General Manager (Corporate Credit), Mr J.P. Dua, told Business Line that the bank, with a view to facilitating faster processing of credit proposals, had started four such CCPC at the regional level. "But this is the first time we have opened one for a cluster of 6 branches covering Coimbatore, Tirupur, Karur and Erode in this region. We would wait and watch the progress for replicating this in other parts of the country." On the launch day, the bank disbursed loans to the tune of Rs 70 crore to 32 beneficiaries. OBC plans to have 10 more CCPCs before the close of the next fiscal. "We have established this one in the South. We will look at setting up such specialised cells in the northern and western parts of the country," Mr Dua said. The bank has dedicated offices for 16 SSI branches and one mid-corporate branch (opened in Chennai recently) and is now looking at SMEs. "The SME segment would be our focused area for growth," he said. He said the bank had achieved a total business of Rs 1-lakh crore till date and was set to cross Rs 105,000 crore within the next one week.
