Anna varsity job fair: Over 400 shortlisted

Coimbatore March 27 More than 400 candidates were shortlisted for employment in the job fair conducted by Anna University-Coimbatore at Government College of Technology on March 24 and 25. It was the first job mela organised by Anna University-Coimbatore after its formation recently.

Ten companies in the Information Technology, ITeS, and Manufacturing and Biotechnology space took part in the expo.

Around 2,400 candidates (already assessed and walk-ins) participated in the fair, out of which 412 candidates were shortlisted for job offers and 31 were issued with offer letters on the spot. Companies like Barnas, Isteel and Sharp Info absorbed maximum number of candidates. The minimum salary offered was Rs 8,000 and maximum was Rs 20,000. Dr R. Radhakrishnan, Vice-Chancellor of Anna University-Coimbatore, said the assessment conducted by the HR Consultancy `Expertus' showed that more than 60 per cent of the participants had scored less than 40 per cent in analytical and verbal skills.
