Education Info-Tech - Human Resources States - West Bengal St Xavier's College, IBM India sign pact Our Bureau
"The programme would help employees of IBM India to enhance their qualifications and avail of career growth opportunities and scope for job rotation within IBM."
Kolkata March 27 The St Xavier's College, Kolkata, will conduct IBM's accelerated career excellence (ACE) programme to help the latter hone the skills of its non-engineering human resources. A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed by IBM India and St Xavier's College here.on Tuesday. IBM's ACE programme has been designed "to groom technical talent at the workplace."
Upgrading Skills
The programme provides the non-engineering employees of IBM India with an opportunity to upgrade their skills and qualification by undertaking a 4-year MS Programme in Software Engineering. Last year, IBM had signed an MoU with the University of Mysore to develop the 4-year MS Programme for its employees with BSc degree.
Career Growth
According to the MoU, IBM will use St Xavier's expertise to run the programme for its Kolkata-based employees. Kolkata houses IBM India's second-largest pool of employees after Bangalore. IBM will bear the execution fees for the programme including the costs of the venue, faculty, infrastructure, examinations, internal assessments, stationary, usage of the library, etc. Fr P.C. Mathew, Principal of St Xavier's said the MoU was the institution's first with a multinational company.
