Tackling inflation

The editorial `Problems of scalability' (Business Line, March 26) has evaluated the problem of inflation rightly. It is not mere supply pressure but also its failure to keep pace with demand. New strategies need to be worked out.

Infrastructure and facilities for faster movement of goods, building up and maintaining required buffer-stock, strengthening the Public Distribution System and a decentralisation in decision-making may be necessary.

A. Jacob Sahayam,

Thiruvananthapuram
