Our Bureau

Bangalore March 29 Microsoft Office 2007 is now available in Hindi. The editions of Office Professional 2007 and Office Standard 2007 being made available in Hindi are part of Microsoft's Project Bhasha, a programme launched in September 2003 to promote local language computing in India.

Microsoft will also be launching language interface packs (LIPs) for Office 2007 in thirteen Indian languages by 2007-end.

"The need for local language software is crucial to deliver the benefits of IT at the grassroots level in a multilingual country like India," said Mr Pankaj Ukey, Office System (Product Lead), Microsoft Corporation India.
