CII survey on micro, SMEs

New Delhi April 1 Thirty nine per cent respondents to a survey on the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) expect to graduate from small-sized industry to medium-sized industry by 2010.

According to the CII survey on policy impact and future scenario for MSME, 72 per cent respondents did not favour raising the foreign direct investment limit in the sector.

Guarantee Loans

Forty nine per cent respondents were optimistic about simplification of labour laws that they consider key for repositioning of the sector in the changing global scenario.

The credit guarantee fund launched by Small Industries Development Bank of India with an initial corpus of Rs 125 crore, provides for guarantee loans up to Rs 25 lakh.

Eighty per cent did not consider the limit of Rs 25 lakh as sufficient.

On the innovation front, 37 per cent of the respondents felt that transformative change and quantum improvement in the organisational skills of the sector would impact innovation strategy across the country.
