Ahmedabad April 2 The Indian Institute of Management-Ahmedabad (IIM-A) has been awarded the Skoch Challenger Award 2007 for academic excellence. At the Fifth Annual Skoch Summit held in New Delhi recently, Dr Bakul H. Dholakia, Director of IIM-A, received the award from Dr C. Rangarajan, Chairman of Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister, the Institute said in a release here on Monday. "While IIM-Ahmedabad is known to be the region's leading business school, it has done some incredible work in sectors like agriculture, health, e-governance, and rural intellectual property development and protection. It is for these reasons that it has richly deserved the Skoch Challenger Award for Academic Excellence," said Mr Sameer Kochhar, CEO of Skoch Consultancy Services.
`Ambitious role'
"We have assumed upon ourselves a role that is much wider and ambitious than other business schools in the country. While majority of our graduates are absorbed in the corporate sector, we also prepare them for a career in management in non-conventional sectors as well," said Dr Dholakia. Skoch Challenger Awards are independently instituted by Skoch Consultancy Services and adjudged to salute best practices since 2002. Skoch is a commercial strategy and management consultancy company with operations in eleven countries. In India, Skoch actively works towards information, communication and technology (ICT)-led improvement of citizen services delivery systems. These include governance, banking, financial services, health, education and infrastructure amongst others. Skoch organises leading conferences to drive thought leadership in these areas. It also runs an independent ICT Think Tank. Team Skoch traverses the country to create knowledge repositories of what works and actively engages with all stakeholders from policy makers to ordinary citizens to share this knowledge for advancement of India through learning from best practices.
