SAP solution for new cess

Our Bureau

Coimbatore, April 5

SAP India, by working with its customers and partners, has delivered a functionality that enables adherence to changes in the tax structure proposed in Union Budget 2007. This functionality is about the `Secondary and Higher Education Cess' levy, introduced in the recent budget. (It is at one per cent of the aggregate of duties of all taxes with immediate impact on indirect taxes.) Business units had to update their systems to ensure computation of this cess on all their dispatches and receipts.

Mr Alan Sedghi, President and CEO, SAP India, said the company supports its customers by providing localised solutions tailor-made for Indian business environments. "The immediate delivery of such localisation helps customers keep their core systems stable while enabling the adoption of ongoing changes with minimal disruption."
