Chennai hosting steel meet

Chennai April 8 A three-day international symposium on `Advances in Stainless Steels 2007' will be held at the Chennai Convention Centre from April 9, according to a press release. The symposium will address the need to adopt advanced melting and fabrication techniques to produce high quality stainless steels in existing grades and to develop cost effective special grades for strategic applications, it said.

Besides a 40-stall exhibition of products and services, the symposium would also host about 70 lectures delivered by international experts on manufacturing, fabrication, design, modelling and applications of stainless steel.

The symposium will be inaugurated by Prof E. Roos, Managing Director of MPA Stuttgart, Germany. Dr S. Banerjee, Director, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Dr Baldev Raj, Director, Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research, Kalpakkam, Mr S.K. Jain, Chairman and Managing Director, Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd and Dr Sanak Misra, Chief Executive Officer, Mittal Steel India Ltd will also be present at the symposium.

About 500 delegates are expected to participate.
