The Hindu Business Line : Sandvik Coromant launches CoroPak range

Pune April 9 Sandvik Coromant has launched 1,650 new products under the new CoroPak range in India. These will cater to needs of the automotive, aerospace and general engineering industries.

The company usually schedules two CoroPak product launches of 1,000 products every year, investing nearly 6 per cent of its annual turnover towards R&D. The annual global market for Sandvik Coromant products is in the range of $14 billion.

Mr Hakan Kingstedt, Managing Director & President, Sandvik Asia Ltd, said, "This launch coincides with a buoyant automotive and engineering sector riding on an economic boom in India. These products will further augment our market growth here."

According to Mr Robindra Nath Som, General Manager, Sandvik Coromant, India, the new range marks the addition to "the New Insert Generation" family of products for machining.

This consists of tough grades for turning and milling, which are introduced as an addition in each CoroPak.

"We have introduced innovative and revolutionary products in almost every avenue of the metal cutting industry," he said.

Sandvik Coromant is the flagship of Sandvik tooling division, specialising in cemented carbide and high-speed tools for metal working.

The tooling division has 5,100 employees worldwide and grossed sales of $3.2 billion in 2006.
