Indian textile delegation to visit S. Africa

Coimbatore April 10 A textile delegation from India will visit South Africa between April 16 and 24.

The delegation to be led by Mr A.K. Singh, Secretary in the Union Ministry of Textiles, will seek to promote enhanced trade in textiles between the two countries and explore possibilities for greater co-operation with the local textile trade bodies/forums in that country in areas such as investment, training and fashion technology, according to Mr M.S. Mathivanan, Chairman of the Powerloom Development and Export Promotion Council (PDEXCIL).

Mr Mathivanan, a member in the visiting delegation, has said in a statement that the trade delegation expected to visit Pretoria, Cape Town and Durban, will have meetings with the local trade organisations including the South African Cotton Textile Manufacturers Association, National Fabric and Knitwear Trade Association at Johannesburg, Association of Importers of Textiles and Apparel at Pretoria.

The proposed visit of the delegation would pave way for improving the exports of powerloom-made textile goods from India, he added.
