For setting up school of animation, gaming and design engineering

Pune April 18 The DSK Group has made a joint venture alliance with the Chamber of Commerce and Industries of Valenciennes (CCIV), France, to set up three schools offering foundation and advanced courses in animation, gaming and design engineering at Phursungi.

The French partner will provide the course material, technical know-how and international faculty for a period of five years while the DSK Group will invest Rs 100 crore in the venture. Dr Ashok Kolaskar, former vice-chancellor, Pune University, has been appointed managing director of the new enterprise.

The fully residential `DSK School of Animation, Gaming and Design Engineering' is founded by DSK Global Education and Research Pvt Ltd, the new joint venture. It will offer education based on a standard approved by the National Commisssion for Professional Certification, a body that is under the supervision of the office of the French Prime Minister.

Courses offered

The courses, between four and five years' duration, are Supinfocom (Animation), Supinfogame (Gaming) and ISD (Institut Superieur de Design) for Product and Automotive and Transport Design. The schools will commence operations in June 2008, and cater to both national and international students.

Mr D.S. Kulkarni, Chairman, DSK Group, who asserted that the three vocational schools would help groom future entrepreneurs, said that the company has acquired the franchise to set up similar schools in the Asia Pacific region. It has also identified Japan, Singapore, China and Australia as likely locations of new schools in the future.

He added that with a maximum of 800 students permitted for the school at Pune, more institutes could also be set up in other Indian cities.

The students (minimum eligibility completion of higher secondary or equivalent) for the courses will be selected on the basis of a written entrance examination as well as interviews, and be offered placements with a host of international companies.
