Rubber exporters' meet on Thursday

Aravindan

Kottayam April 23 Since the international price rules much higher than the domestic price, export would be profitable and, therefore, the Rubber Board would expedite the steps for export, said Mr Sajen Peter, Chairman. For this a meeting of major exporters would be convened on April 26. The companies functioning under the Rubber Board have been asked to enhance exports.

Shortage

The currencies of major rubber producing countries have recently strengthened against dollar. It was the reason why the prices shoot up in the international market. More over, in all the natural producing countries, the production is also low during April, May and June.

No decision has so far been taken to import rubber from Thailand at reduced tariff by the Govt and the propaganda against this is quite baseless, the Chairman confirmed.
