Satyam, IBM set up KidSmart centres

Hyderabad May 2 Satyam Foundation, the corporate social responsibility arm of Satyam Computer, along with Byrraju Foundation and IBM and Sarva Siksha Abhiyan (SSA), has set up two KidSmart centres in Hyderabad.

Taken up on a pilot basis at the Boys Upper Primary School and Government's High School, they expect to replicate it in other schools later.

The IBM KidSmart early learning programme is a corporate community relationship initiative from IBM.

It deploys latest hardware, software and educational materials to give young children with a stimulating environment.

It is aimed at pre-school centres and primary schools. According to the Director of Satyam Foundation, Mr U. Balaji, this concept was introduced in five districts before bringing to Hyderabad.

There are hundreds of poor children who do not have access to computers.

This sought to introduce this concept in Government schools in the twin cities."

Alongside offering children from low socio economic status communities good quality learning opportunities, it also provides teachers access to latest educational methodology.

This also helps children in 3-8 years age group in disadvantaged sections of society where the focus is on developing reading, cognitive and creative skills.
