LSI Logic, Agere complete merger

Our Bureau

Bangalore May 4 Chip solution firms LSI Logic and Agere Systems have completed their merger, effective from April 2. In their "United we stand" approach, the firms hope their portfolio of chip solutions will give them the boost needed to stay ahead in the fast-paced high tech industry.

Elaborating on the merger, Mr Phil Brace, Senior Vice-President, Corporate Planning and Marketing, LSI Corporation, said the company would continue to trade under the New York Stock Exchange. The company employs just under a 1,000 in India.

The integration has been "smooth and seamless," according to Dr Madhusudhan V. Atre, VP & MD, ex-Agere Systems. "The merger has given the opportunity to employees and developers to move onto a broader development platform and increase their prospects," he said.
