Chennai May 9 The US-India Business Council has appointed Mr Lakshmi Narayanan, Vice-Chairman, Cognizant Technology Solutions, an American IT company with development centres in India, to its board of directors.

The council is the premier business advocacy organisation representing 250 of the largest US companies investing in India along with two dozen of India's largest global companies. Its mandate is to strengthen the US-India commercial ties, says a press release issued by the council. Mr Charles Kaye, Chairman of the council and co-President of the private equity firm Warburg Pincus in the release said, "Mr Lakshmi Narayanan brings to the board a global exposure and an important voice supporting the value addition inherent in an advanced IT industry in India."
