Human Resources Indian board okays voluntary scheme for cabin crew Our Bureau
New Delhi May 9 The board of Indian has approved a scheme whereby cabin crew over the age of 41 years can seek voluntary retirement or shift to doing ground duties rather than flying duties. The scheme would allow those over 41 years to receive a compensation package ranging from Rs 13 lakh to Rs 25 lakh depending on the age of the cabin crew, the airline said in a statement. Besides, the employees would also be entitled to the existing post retirement benefits. The scheme has been called the voluntary retirement and rejuvenation package. Additionally, the company would allow some cabin crew members below 50 years, to take up certain ground duties - they would also receive an additional monthly compensation ranging from Rs 15,000 to Rs 50,000. The airline currently has about 1,100 cabin crew personnel. It is estimated that at least 40 per cent of the staff would be eligible for taking up the package.
