Lupin cholesterol drug gets US nod

Mumbai, May 15

Lupin Ltd has received final approval from the US regulatory authority to sell its generic version of cholesterol-drug Simvastatin. The US Food and Drug Administration approved Lupin's abbreviated new drug application (ANDA) for Simvastatin tablets in different strengths, the company told the Bombay Stock Exchange. Lupin's Simvastatin is the generic equivalent of Merck's Zocor tablets. Lupin now has 21 ANDAs approved by the USFDA, a note from the company said. Lupin shares closed at Rs 714, up 1.05 per cent on the BSE.
