Dhanalakshmi Bank net up 70%

Dhanalakshmi Bank's net profit has grown 70 per cent and touched Rs 16.14 crore (Rs 9.52 crore) for the year 2006-07. The operating profit has, meanwhile, grown 67 per cent to Rs 38.64 crore (Rs 23.09 crore), a press release here has said.

The total income grew by 19 per cent to Rs 276.17 crore (Rs 231.79 crore). Non-interest income increased 35 per cent to Rs 29.63 crore (Rs 21.91 crore). The total deposits increased to Rs 3,088 crore (Rs 2,533 crore), while the advances grew to Rs 1,928 crore (Rs 1,690 crore). It surpassed the Rs 5,000-crore business target this year. Around 95 per cent of the bank's business was under the core banking. Efforts made at recovering non-performing assets resulted in net NPA as a percentage of net advances declining to 1.75 per cent (2.44 per cent).
