Rubber Board disburses Rs 19.5 cr

Kottayam May 17 Rubber Board has disbursed Rs 19.54 crore for rubber growers during the financial year 2006-07.

As against Rs 15.6 crore targeted under the Rubber Plantation Development Scheme, the board could achieve 125.27 per cent increase, according to a press note issued by the Rubber Board.

Last financial year, the amount was given to rubber growers to promote scientific rubber cultivation in the traditional areas, including Kerala, and the non-traditional areas, including North-East where replanting and new planting was done.

During the period, replanting was done in 4070.41 hectares and new planting in 8719.12 hectares.
