Pall opens excellence centre

Our Bureau

Bangalore, May 18

Pall Corporation, US-based fluid management company supporting the life sciences industry, has opened its Asia centre of excellence in Bangalore. This is its first outside the US and Europe. Pall plans to start a new industrial solutions centre in Pune, a release said, without disclosing investment details. The centre includes a large proteomics lab, a validation lab and training facility.

Pall India P Ltd, the Indian subsidiary of the $ 2-billion company, has been functioning since 1996, with a 200-strong force based in Mumbai. About 30 of the proposed 60 scientists for Bangalore have been hired. The biotech support and proteomics research market is estimated at nearly $1 billion. It sees a big market opportunity in the Indian biotech industry - which is ranked fourth globally and is tipped to touch $5 billion by 2010-end.
