Pune May 18 Spykar Jeans, the domestic brand known for its casual wear and accessories, is all set to expand its portfolio by adding a few more ranges. Talking to presspersons, Mr Sanjay Vakharia, Director - Marketing, Spykar Lifestyle Pvt Ltd, said a range of undergarments, luggage, eyewear and kidswear would be launched. The kidswear would be very similar to the adult apparels and would not come out in hues of red, blue and yellow. He said the apparels would be under the 24x7 fashion brand. These would be available at a different set of stores and about 60 stores would cater to these two brands by 2008-09, he said. Spykar has in its portfolio an array of designer wear, from the first manufacturers of cargoes to the five-pockets jeans to fashionable denims, fatigues, loozers, jackets, tees, shirts to trendy bags, belts, caps, wallets socks and so on numbering to about 17 accessories. He said out of these, four, which included kidswear, eyewear, luggage and undergarments, would be spun out as separate entities. Talks are already on with Chromosome for undergarments while Sterling Optics would take care of the eyewear. The luggage would be brought out by Spykar and would be outsourced from China. This would start off with strolleys and backpacks, he said. Mr Sanjay said Spykar has about 12 dedicated outsourced facilities for its production and noted that it was looking at increasing this base with smaller outfits. These outfits, he noted, could have about 30-100 machines. He noted that the material for all these were being taken from three locations, Sri Lanka, Nepal and Bangladesh. The company, which also opened its first exclusive store in London in2006, is also looking at spreading its wings to about two more locations in London and about four locations in the UK. He said it was scouting for business in Spain as also the markets of the UAE.
The Pune outlet, he said would have its apparel range and the accessories andsaid it was in talks for having a wine bar, nail bar, skin oriented section, hair extension and hair weaving.
He said the company was looking at opening 12 Style Labs in the country and the next ones on the radar is New Delhi and Chandigarh which would be followed by Ahmedabad. Mr Sanjay said it had closed the year ending March 2007 with a revenue of Rs 88 crore and was targetting Rs 160 crore for the current year. The target for 2009 is Rs 330 crore. He added that the company would also be coming out with an IPO by 2009.
