KPIT Cummins forays into South Africa

Our Bureau

Pune May 20 KPIT Cummins Infosystems Ltd has announced a strategic partnership with South Africa-based Business Connexion.

It hopes to capitalise on the early mover advantage, since only a few Indian IT providers have an established presence in that country.

The partnership is focused on manufacturing, diversified financial services, advanced technology solutions and the automotive and industrial market sectors.

Mr Kishor Patil, Managing Director and CEO, said: "We believe that this partnership opens a new era of growth for us."

He added that South Africa was an emerging market and that Business Connexion "gives us access to a large base of customers and added skill sets in infrastructure management, which we can deploy with the KPIT customer base."

Mr Benjamin Mophatlane, Deputy CEO of Business Connexion, said: "This partnership provides Business Connexion with a scope of skills, experience and capability unmatched by any other local service provider."

Stating that the widely reported skills shortage in South Africa was hampering business growth in some sectors, he said: "We believe that the partnership with KPIT Cummins is a concrete intervention that supports the Government's accelerated and shared growth initiative."

He added: "Instead of debating skills shortages, we have found a fulfilment partner able to provide the necessary expertise to support the growth of South African industry and business sectors."
