Logistics - Information Technology
It is all on the road

The convergence of technology is the buzzword in seamless transportation by road.

The critical issues in goods transportation, according to experts, are power to weight ratio and the specific standardisation in respect of various types of vehicles such as prime mover, trailers, drive train and also for safety systems and diver's cabin.

For appropriate road technology, the key issues are standardisation of laying technology, surface treatments, dimensions, gradients and speed and traffic control.

The application of information technology too could be of great help particularly in the field of seamless taxation and checks, standardisation of documents and on line tracking and tracing systems. It should also be possible to get online feedback on vehicle performance.
