Our Bureau

Bangalore May 27 Compact Disc India Ltd (CDI), a leading integrated media and entertainment company, has signed a deal worth $20.15 million with Motion Pixel Corporation, a Los Angles-based Hollywood production company.

This will see CDI co-produce a 90 minute, 3D animation film called GoaaaaaL!, based on soccer and featuring the most popular Brazilian soccer sport star Ronaldo.

As part of this covenant, CDI will produce the animation content for Motion Pixel Corporation over one-year period, from its modern studio in Chennai.

Written by renowned Hollywood writer, Mr M. Guerrier, the film is expected to have worldwide release during the 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup.

The movie

Centred round Roanldo, the film's story is about the aspirations of a young girl who dreams to become a soccer world champion and how her determination and hard work leads her to the fulfilment of her dream. Unlike other animation movies, GoaaaaaL! will feature real life sports personalities and celebrities and will create animated versions of them, in an endeavour to make the movie more interesting and lively for the audience.

Mr Suresh Kumar, Chairman, CDIL, said "This is a significant milestone for CDI and an important feat for the Indian Animation industry".
