Bangkok May 30 Nok Air, Thailand's low-cost domestic airline, will start flying to its first international destination, Bangalore, on May 31. The flight connecting the two cities is targeted at shoppers flying into Bangkok from the IT city of the country. Positioned as the `Shopper's Airline,' Nok Air has partnered with The Mall Group, operators of some of the city's and perhaps, Asia Pacific region's largest malls: Siam Paragon, Emporium and The Mall Department stores. The inaugural airfare is Rs 9,999 for tourists flying from Bangalore, which is about 30 per cent lower than other airlines flying the same route. Apart from the low airfare, Nok Air travellers to Bangkok can enjoy exclusive discounts of 50 per cent on high street brands like Replay and Country Road and discount of 5-10 per cent in other stores. Announcing the launch here, Mr Patee Sarasin, CEO, Nok Air, said that Nok Air had acquired landing rights in Chennai, Hyderabad and Delhi and would start flying to these destinations soon. Siam Paragon is a 500,000 sq mt mall housing some of the biggest global brands. The mall gets footfall of around 100,000 visitors a day and about 25 per cent of these are Indians, according to Mr Kriengsak Tantiphipop, Executive Chief Marketing Officer, Siam Paragon Development Co.
