ORGANISED ROLE: Eggs stacked in a godown at Kochi, Kerala. Effective management and marketing by the private sector, which is fairly organised, has helped the poultry sector make steady progress over the last couple of years. Egg production has increased to 46.2 billion currently from 38.7 billion at the end of the Ninth Plan. The country currently ranks fourth in egg production.
