Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd (MRPL) despatched 1.128 million tonnes of petroleum products in May as against 1.038 million tonnes in the corresponding period of the previous year, recording a growth of 8.7 per cent.

A press release by the company has said here that with this, MRPL has crossed another milestone in its performance. The despatch includes domestic product off-take and exports. The industry off-take from MRPL this time was an all-time high of 0.493 million tonnes, which included diesel, petrol and kerosene, it said. The demand was higher than the production in May.

The release said that the new high in demand could be met owing to higher opening inventory. Currently, MRPL exports fuels to Singapore, the Mauritius and Abu Dhabi. During 2006-07, earning from exports alone was Rs 11,636.64 crore.
