Announcements Marketing - New Products & Services States - Kerala Alkem Lab unveils wound-care product Our Bureau
Kochi June 6 Alkem Laboratories Ltd, one of the leading pharma companies in the country, has introduced imported wound care product - Oxum in the Kerala market, which is used for cleaning, debriding and moistening chronic and acute wounds. The company has made an exclusive agreement for marketing the product in India with the US based Oculus Innovative Sciences in California. Mr Vinod Dua, Vice-President (Marketing and Sales), said that Oxum is made from the revolutionary microcyn technology patented by the US company. In the last few years, there has been a lot of interest generated in a new revolutionary superoxidised solution, which can be used with excellent results in the management of all kinds of wounds, he added. The active component of this solution includes various reactive species of chlorine and oxygen. This is a stable, non-flammable and non-corrosive bacterial, virucidal, fungicidal and sporocidal solution that is ready to use with no further dilution or mixing. According to Mr Dua, clinical studies have found that Oxum could plan an important roled in the comprehensive therapy of a number of acute and chronic wounds including diabetic foot ulcers, varicose vein leg ulcers and second and third degree burns among other applications. The company had also plans to manufacture the product in India after three years, he added.
