New Delhi, June 7

The Minister of Communications & Information Technology, Mr Andimuthu Raja, said that the guidelines for implementing the recently announced special incentive package scheme for the semi-conductor industry would be issued soon. He said an appraisal committee has already been set up in the Department of Information Technology for the purpose.

Mr Raja said that the scheme, announced by the DIT, would attract further investments in the semiconductors and other hi-tech areas. The State Governments are also offering special incentives package to such units. The scheme is valid up to March 31, 2010.
