Qatar Airways plans Doha-NY-Washington service soon

Plans afoot to start connection flights from Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Hyderabad

Kochi June 14 Qatar Airways will soon start connection flights to its new Doha-New York-Washington flights from all the major cities in India.

Currently, the airline has only connection flight from Kochi to the new US service starting June 26 and plans are afoot to start connection flights from Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai and Hyderabad by the end of this year, Mr Naveen Chawla, Regional Manager - India, Qatar Airways, said.

Indian operations

Addressing a press meet after unveiling the details of the US launch of the flight here on Thursday, Mr Chawla said that Qatar Airways would be the only West Asian carrier flying daily non-stop between Doha and Washington Dulles International Airport.

The launch of the US flights is the highlight of Qatar Airways' route expansion programme during 2007, he added.

Referring to Indian operations, he said the airline has increased its capacity in the country by 40 per cent over a period of one year with the operations of a total 42 flights a week from various cities such as Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram and Chennai to Qatar.

The company would soon launch flights to Nagpur and Ahemadabad by the end of 2007, he said.

He pointed out that Qatar Airways currently operates a modern fleet of 57 all Airbus aircraft to 75 destinations across Europe, West Asia Africa, Far East and the Indian subcontinent.
