MR MURUGAVEL JANAKIRAMAN

Chennai June 14 The Bharatmatrimony Group plans to spend about Rs 57 crore in 2007-08 towards advertising its brands.

The spend would be divided between Clickjobs.com (Rs 25 crore), Bharatmatrimony.com (Rs 20 crore), Indiaproperty.com (Rs 10 crore) and Indiaautomobile.com (Rs 2 crore).

The investment will be funded mainly through internal accruals, according to Mr Murugavel Janakiraman, CEO.

He added that the company was not looking at venture capital or any other form of funding in the near future.

The company plans to launch a portal for motorbikes that will address the new and used motorbikes market.

"We plan to tie up with about 1,000 bike dealers by the end of the year," he told newspersons.

Brand ambassador

Announcing racer Karun Chandhok as the brand ambassador for Indiaautomobile.com, Mr Janakiraman said that the Indian automobile industry would soon take to online advertising in a big way; he cited the recent example of Toyota advertising its Corolla range of limited edition cars on Indiaautomobile.com.

About 17 per cent of online advertising in the US (close to $1.5 billion) comes from the automobile industry, he said.

Indiaautomobile.com gets about 3.2 lakh visitors a day and last month, about 5,000 requests for new cars were registered, he said. Karun Chandhok will review and rate new cars, answer user queries and share his racing experience on a blog.
