Cisco completes buying of IronPort

Our Bureau

Bangalore, June 26

Cisco on Tuesday announced the completion of its acquisition of security firm IronPort Systems. Cisco acquired IronPort on January 4, for $830 million in cash and stock.

IronPort's products and technology will enable Cisco to extend its self-defending network strategy. With IronPort's solutions, Cisco can also extend protection from the network (at the packet level) to applications and content. IronPort's Wide Traffic Inspection integrates network and content analysis to stop threats and protect all major application protocols, endpoints, and the network itself.
