Pharmalink buys Lilly’s brand

New Delhi, June 30

Eli Lilly has sold off its antibiotic brand – Distaclor (Cefaclor) to Pharmalink, a subsidiary of Quintiles International Corp, for an undisclosed sum. The drug which was being marketed in India by Lilly since 1993 is one of its flagship products, said the Indianapolis headquartered pharma company in a release. “The divestiture happens at a time when we are looking to consolidate our footprints in the area of diabetes, oncology, critical care and bone health an d growth. This divestiture is completely aligned with our global strategy of introducing new and innovative products from Lilly’s strong research pipeline,” said Mr Sandeep Gupta, CMD of the company’s operation in India. —
