Rains throw rail services in Bengal out of gear

Our Bureau

Kolkata, July 4 Incessant rain for the past couple of days has thrown rail movement in West Bengal out of gear, with the Eastern Railway (ER) having cancelled several long-distance trains. South Eastern Railway (SER), known for freight movement, however, is a little better placed. It cancelled only one long-distance passenger train.

ER has cancelled half a dozen long-distance trains such as Jodhpur Express, Toofan Express, Mithila Express, Shaktipunj Express, Delhi Janata Express and Sealdah-Asansol Intercity Express.

The only long distance train cancelled by SER has been Howrah-Ranchi Shatabdi Express.

The departure timings of at least three trains have been rescheduled by ER and these include Howrah-Delhi Kalka Mail, Howrah-Amritsar Mail and Bagh Express.
