Naresh Malhotra quits Café Coffee Day

Our Bureau

Bangalore, July 6 Mr Naresh Malhotra, the man behind Café Coffee Day, has quit the company.

Mr Malhotra announced this at a board meeting on Friday in the city. June 30 was his last working day at the company. However, he will continue to be on the board of Amalgamated Bean Coffee Trading Company, the parent company of Café Coffee Day, as an independent director.

Mr Malhotra, who joined Café Coffee Day in 2001 as Director, has been instrumental in building CCD into the successful brand it is today. He introduced the cluster strategy in Café Coffee Day — i.e. locating coffee outlets in clusters — a ploy that seems to have worked well for the company.
