Prices skid

More supply: A worker tending a plant in a rubber nursery near Chalakudi in Kerala. Rubber prices are facing a downward trend despite lean output owing to monsoon. Rubber production during last fiscal stood at a record 8.5 lakh tonnes against 8.02 lakh tonnes in the previous fiscal. Consumption is seen around 8.25 lakh tonnes against 8.01 lakh tonnes. Imports in this fiscal is estimated to touch 1 lakh tonnes, against 87,000 tonnes last year.
