DLF sole bidder for Bidadi township project

Anjana Chandramouly

Bangalore, July 10 Real estate developer DLF Ltd has emerged the sole bidder for the Bangalore Metropolitan Region Development Authority’s (BMRDA) 9,300-acre Bidadi Satellite Township Project, as the deadline for submission of technical and financial bids ended on Tuesday. When contacted, DLF officials confirmed the news, while declining to divulge the details.

A BMRDA official merely said that the bids would be evaluated and finalised by end-August. There were 24 contenders at the request for qualification stage as on January 22, BMRDA’s Web site said. The estimated cost of developing the township, to be located 39 km from Bangalore, off the Bangalore-Mysore State Highway, is Rs 3,500 crore. The project implementation period is expected to be two years and the realisation period five years.

Bidadi is one of the five townships proposed by BMRDA around Bangalore, to be developed in a public-private partnership. The townships will be self-contained, developed with amenities based on modern technology and environmentally-friendly concepts. The process for the other townships would begin after the Bidadi project is finalised, said the official.
