Infosys mum on CapGemini buy

Our Bureau

Has Infosys Technologies made an attempt to acquire CapGemini, the European consulting giant?

The Infosys CEO, Mr S. Gopalakrishan’s comment at a press conference left many newspersons guessing on Wednesday. He neither denied nor confirmed when asked to comment on the recent speculation.

“We cannot comment on anything, which is a rumour, because that’s all we can say unless something really happens,” Mr Gopalakrishnan said. “Till the acquisition is complete, no company comments on this issue,” he said.

“All I can say is that as part of the company’s strategy, we do look at acquisitions. It (the company to be acquired) has to meet our criteria. They want to be acquired. If they don’t agree, we can’t acquire,” he added. Further, making a general statement, he said: “We are looking at acquisitions.”
