Tea States - Kerala Good demand for dust tea at Kochi auction
Our Bureau Kochi, July 12 Good general demand propped up the price of quality CTC dust tea by Rs 2 to 3 at the Kochi tea auction. Other CTC varieties were steady to dearer while poorer CTC witnessed less demand. Orthodox high grown was dearer while medium varieties remained steady. There was 10.8 lakh kg of dust tea on offer at the auction. Best CTC varieties commanded Rs 56 – 68, medium CTC quoted Rs 50 – 53 and below medium was at Rs 38 – 43. High grown BOPD ranged between Rs 60 and 108, medium BOPD was between Rs 43 and Rs 46 while secondaries quoted between Rs 30 and 35. Leaf Sale
There was 2.94 lakh kg of leaf tea on offer at the auction. High grown orthodox and bolder grades were steady to dearer, while medium orthodox were barely steady around last weeks’ levels. Good CTC was dearer by Rs 1 – 2. Orthodox grades witnessed good demand from exporters. Best Nilgiri varieties quoted at Rs 78 – 93, medium orthodox ranged at Rs 44 – 65 and plain orthodox was at Rs 40 – 43. Best CTC leaf fetched Rs 51 – 58 and medium CTC was at Rs 43 – 46. Top Prices
In the dust segment, Kodanad BOPD commanded the top price at Rs 108, followed by Parkside BOPD at Rs 99, Pasuparai FD at Rs 97 and Shanthi SFD at Rs 91. In the leaf segment, Havukal BOPF fetched the top price at Rs 136, followed by Havukal FOP at Rs 125, Chamraj FOP at Rs 120 and Chamraj OP at Rs 110.
