Human Resources Geometric Software doubling headcount
Adith Charlie Mumbai, July 15 The Mumbai based Geometric Software Solutions expects to triple its revenues and double its overall headcount by 2010. “We have set ourselves a target of reaching $275-$300 million (Rs 1,100-Rs 1,200 crore) in revenues by 2010 as against our current turnover of $85 million (Rs 340 crore),” Dr Ravi Gopinath, MD and CEO, Geometric Solutions, told Business Line. Geometric caters to the product lifecycle management segment and engineering services space. As part of the strategy to achieve these numbers, the company is keen to increase the contribution of revenues from the engineering division to 40 per cent over the next three years from 25 per cent currently. Global Platform
Geometric had acquired the global engineering services division of Detroit based Modern Engineering for $32 million (Rs 128 crore), in October last year. In spite of Modern just managing to break even in the previous quarter, Dr Gopinath is optimistic about scaling up business and leveraging Modern as a global platform. “Currently 3-4 per cent of Modern’s revenues come from offshore locations. Our target is that by the fourth quarter of the current year, the offshore component of revenues should be between 16 and 20 per cent,” he said. Sales Strategy
The company plans to market its capabilities as a systems integrator and strengthen its global delivery model. For better brand visibility and market positioning, the company will make investments in improving the sales strategy, said Dr Gopinath. Geometric intends to raise its overall staff strength to 6,000 by 2010 from 2,500 at present. The company’s sales force is all set to be scaled up, according to Dr Gopinath. The company intends to start its second engineering centre in India, which will be based in Pune.
